Recent studies have shown that volunteering not only helps out your community and neighbors –it is also good for your mental and physical health.

Here are just a few ways volunteering will make you feel better (as well as the people you’re helping)!

  • Improve your well-being – the social interaction involved with volunteering can help reduce your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, enhance your immune system, increase your endorphin production and lessen the impact of stress.
  • Combat depression and isolation – a key risk factor of depression is isolation, volunteering will allow you to make new and lasting friendships and have the social interaction to help buffer against depression.
  • Raise your self-esteem and self-confidence – Volunteering can provide you with a sense of purpose and the act of helping people will improve your sense of self-worth and confidence.
  • Longer Life Expectancy – Participating in ongoing volunteer activities has been shown to increase both life expectancy and quality of life. Research also shows that the earlier you start the better.  People who volunteer earlier in their lives experience greater function ability and better health outcomes later in their life.

So what are you waiting for?  To learn about all the volunteer activities we have please call 561.655.1919 or email
