WEEK 13 OF ACTION: TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH TO HAVE A HEALTHY SMILE
BRUSH, FLOSS, SWISH, REPEAT.
Many of us, if you are like me, dread going to the dentist, so much that I looked into sedation dentistry. Oh, the high-pitched ZZZZZZ of the drill, the uncomfortable feeling trying to keep my mouth open so they can drill my teeth and tell me I can do a better job flossing.
I am certain ALL of us can benefit from flossing more. Now that I am older, I do a better job of taking care of my teeth but if I had only done that 15 years ago – I would be in much better shape than I am now.
Here’s the deal: gum disease, heart disease, strokes, dementia, bacteria and plaque – oh, and bad breath – are all health problems that can relate back to how well you brush your teeth.
Bottom line: BACTERIA spreads, and can spread around the mouth, to the heart, and to the brain causing these life-threatening diseases. Not to mention the bad breath and countless dollars wasted on extractions, root canals, crowns all because the two minute brushing spiel turned into one minute (only removing 60% of plaque).
Here are the PEARLY WHITE NIGHT TIPS for a healthy smile:
Brush before bed – use good form, switch to an electric toothbrush for efficiency
Floss those babies; before the plaque hardens and turns into tartar
Rinse with mouthwash – before bed, therapeutic mouth rinses keep free of plaque and bacteria
Be aware of TEETH GRINDING – wearing tooth enamel, causing sensitivity
See the dentist regularly – they help keep your teeth and gums healthy over time
Preventative care and maintenance are just as important as a good morning and nighttime brush.
Remember, you are only given one set; you better take care of them.
