WEEK 38 OF ACTION – GIVING BACK (PART 2 OF 4)
“From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.” – Arthur Ashe
My family and I have adapted a holiday tradition. At Thanksgiving, we decide on an amount of money to put aside, then we secretly spend it in a random, kindhearted way. Each of us has until Christmas Eve to complete our task, which we reveal to the rest of the family on Christmas Day. I am more excited to reveal what I’ve done to my family and to hear about what they have done than I am to receive or give personal gifts. This has become one of my favorite traditions of the holiday season.
When you share acts of kindness, you are giving back more than you might think. This holiday season consider starting a new giving tradition. Listed below are wish lists from some of our partner agencies, please consider shopping for them this holiday season.
The Center for Child Counseling strives to strengthen and empower children and families through prevention, early intervention, and treatment services that support their social-emotional wellness and growth.
The Arc of Palm Beach County improves the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families, through services, education and advocacy.
Achievement Centers provides affordable quality care to children whose parents otherwise could not maintain their job or go to school without our help.
