Spring has sprung and it is that time of year to be out with the old and in with the new.  This year, open up your pantry, closets and drawers – and donate. From canned food to barely used clothing and household goods, it is easy to pack up items. Chances are they can be put to good use for others.

On any given day in Palm Beach County there are over 1,400 individuals who are homeless. 14.5% of Palm Beach County residents live below the federal poverty level. As you are going through your closets, keep in mind that the clothes you never wear could be a clean shirt, shoes or socks for someone else. Perhaps your donation will help a single mom provide school clothes for her children or provide the opportunity for someone to land a job with a business suit.

Household goods and personal care items don’t last forever and are always in need. Have extra toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, dishes, baby wipes or pots and pans taking up space in your home? These items can be donated as well to people in need.

Contact a local shelter or organization that receives donations. Here are a few of our partner agencies: Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, Gratitude House, The Homeless Coalition and The Lord’s Place.

Keep in mind the people who will benefit from your generous donation and this year clean with purpose.

And just a reminder the Town of Palm Beach United Way annual food drive is April 4th-25th, we will be happy to take all your nonperishable food items!!
