Town of Palm Beach United Way celebrates a great year

There are some truly amazing individuals and organizations in our community.  At the Town of Palm Beach United Way, we are proud to collaborate and serve as a partner alongside the people and companies doing great things.

Last week, we held our 71st Annual Meeting at the Breakers Palm Beach. The event gave us the chance to say “THANK YOU” to the people who have the passion, expertise, and resources to get things done.

If you missed the Annual Meeting here is a Top 10 list of the what took place.

  1. Owen O’Neill (CEO of Clinics Can Help) and Diana Stanley (CEO of The Lord’s Place) shared incredible agency stories and the impact of Town of Palm Beach United Way funding.
  2. Debra Vasilopoulos, Regional President of Sabadell Bank & Trust, Palm Beach County and our 2016 Campaign Chair, announced that we exceeded our goal, raising $5,062,446.
  3. Bridget Moran and Jay Boodheshwar, our 2016 Allocation Committee Co-Chairmen presented their grant report which will provide funding to 92 human service program operated by 47 partner nonprofit organizations throughout Palm Beach County.   4. The 2016 recipient of the Nettie Finkle award was Dale Bruhn in recognition of his volunteer role at Alzheimer’s Community Care. Bruhn, who at the age of 92 exemplifies volunteerism and whose commitment to bringing hope, promise and opportunity into the lives of others has left a lasting, positive impact on the community.
  5. Outgoing Board members were thanked for six years of service on the Town of Palm Beach United Way board: Kathy Bleznak, Mary Freitas, Sarah Gewirz, Sandy Heine, Kenn Karakul, Cater Randolph and Joyce Reingold.
  6. New board members were elected: Ann Britt Angle, Cynthia Boardman, Jorge Cabrera, Tasha Dickinson, David Duffy, Mary Gilbane, Vanessa Henry, Ed Phelps, Wally Turner, Dan Wilkinson, and Allen Wyett.
  7. Board Chairs transitioned from Michele Kessler, to Jay Boodheshwar.
  8. Special thanks were given to the Palm Beach Daily News, Palm Beach Fire Rescue, The Breakers Palm Beach, Dan Ponton, Capehart Photography, Sabadell Bank & Trust, Livingston Builders, and Wally Findlay Galleries.
