Week 66 of Action: School Supply Drive
Remember your first day of school? How proud you were to open up that supply box with your very own scissors, pencils, and a box full of brand new crayons? The sad reality is that many children right here in our own community don’t have that experience. For them, starting the school year can be just another time to be reminded of exactly how much they don’t have. We want every child to have the experience of starting the school year with all the tools they will need to be prepared and ready to learn.
Today marks the start of the Town of Palm Beach United Way’s annual Boxed for Success school supply drive organized by Youth United (a group of local high school students working to further the mission of the Town of Palm Beach United Way).
All school supplies will be given to local Title I schools – Pioneer Park Elementary, Pine Grove Elementary and Palm Springs Elementary – to ensure they reach disadvantaged kids just in time for the new school year. Help us enable our youth to achieve great futures by equipping them to return to school prepared to learn and succeed. The Drive runs from June 27th to August 5th and drop off locations are:
Town of Palm Beach United Way Office: 44 Cocoanut Row, M201
Palm Beach Daily News: 400 Royal Palm Way, Suite 100
UBS Financial: 440 Royal Palm Way, Suite 300
Brown Harris Stevens: 353 Worth Avenue
Palm Beach Recreation Center: 340 Seaview Avenue
Town of Palm Beach Fire Rescue
300 North County (North)
355 South County (Central)
2185 South Ocean (South)
Decorated school boxes in the Boxed for Success Contest will be judged for best overall, most creative, best theme and most color.
How to enter the contest:
- Decorate your shoebox(es)
- Add contact information inside the box (so we can thank you)
- Fill box with new school supplies
- Bring filled and decorated shoebox(es) to one of the drop-off locations
Not feeling creative but still want to help? We appreciate all donations even if they are not in a decorated school box. Bring supplies to one of the drop-off locations.
