Week 73 of Action: National Thrift Shop Day
Some people believe that the concepts of shopping and saving money don’t go hand-in-hand. But nothing could be further from the truth! These days, blending the two ideas is not only simple but people prefer it. National Thrift Shop Day reminds us that we can also “pop some tags” in thrift stores and find amazing items at affordable prices.
Or the next time you are cleaning out your closets, box up your used items and drop them off at a local thrift store. Many resale shops are run by volunteers and the profits go to a charitable organization. Your unwanted items will be put to good use for others who are in need.
Donating to your local thrift shop or shopping at your local thrift shop is an easy way to make a difference in your community. In celebration of National Thrift Shop Day (Wednesday, August 17th), we are asking you to donate or shop sometime this week at a thrift shop. There are many thrift shops in Palm Beach County that support our community. Here is a link for local thrift shops and the nonprofit organization that is supported: http://www.thethriftshopper.com/city/Palm_Beach/FL/1.htm .
