Tish Carlo has been a volunteer at the Town of Palm Beach United Way for the past 18 years and has served on our Allocation committee. We sat down with Tish to ask her a few questions about volunteering at the Town of Palm Beach United Way and what it means to her.
What made you choose to volunteer with the Town of Palm Beach United Way?
Having a friend that worked at The Town of Palm Beach United Way and her sharing with me the allocation process and how important volunteers were to the process. I thought it would be a great way to learn about other not for profits in the county and the programs and services they provide.
What do you like most about volunteering with the Town of Palm Beach United Way?
Meeting others (volunteers) who share a commitment of giving back. That and the fact that they are well-organized and have a resourceful and talented support staff.
What have you learned by being a volunteer with us?
The diversity of needs and the limited resources that are available to meet those needs.
What do you do when you’re not volunteering?
I’m at my day job, Director of Gift Planning for Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation.
What is your most memorable volunteer moment?
My most memorable moment occurs every year when the process begins anew. No year is ever the same and the time and energy the volunteers and staff put forth is amazing.
