The Homeless Coalition has been a Town of Palm Beach United Way partner agency since 1996. They provide leadership in addressing and improving the quality of life of the Palm Beach County homeless through advocacy, planning, coordination, education and maximizing resources.
Our monthly Volunteer Spotlight recognizes Town of Palm Beach United Way volunteers who are passionate, inspiring and dedicated. They are individuals committed to transforming lives and who invest in our vision of building healthy and strong communities.
Jorge Cabrera has been a volunteer at the Town of Palm Beach United Way for the past 6 years and has served on our Allocation committee. This year Jorge will be Co-Chairman of the committee and has agreed to serve on our Board of Trustees. We sat down with Jorge to ask him a few questions about volunteering at the Town of Palm Beach United Way and what it means to him.
Today, the National Day of Encouragement was intended for all of us to do something to offer encouragement to those around us. This could be a coworker, family member, close friend or even a stranger. Everyone needs encouragement — a word of affirmation, note of appreciation or someone to just believe in us.
Today, make deliberate acts of encouragement. Tell someone “great job”, help someone along with their goals, contact a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while and smile more. These acts of encouragement don’t need to be big, remember simple acts of kindness can bring great encouragement!
The goal is to not just offer encouragement on this day but every day. Let’s adopt an attitude of encouraging others as a way of life.
