Meet Jaylen and Omi
A recent graduate Jaylen, had been a student at Opportunity since he was an infant. His family’s connection to Opportunity began when his older brother, Omi, was a toddler and his mother, Ernesta, a 19 year old, cleaning homes and struggling to survive. Ernesta chose Opportunity because it is affordable, had convenient hours and was clean and welcoming. Ernesta loved the teachers, the open-door policy and the education her children have received to prepare them for success. With a great deal of hard work, support from Opportunity’s parenting programs, and the quality developmental care her children received, Ernesta is now self-sufficient, working in human resources for a financial corporation, and her family is thriving. Omi recently graduated from Bear Lakes Middle School with a 3.4 GPA and will enter Palm Beach Gardens High School this fall. One of the most exciting aspects of this family’s success story is that Jaylen has been accepted into, and received a scholarship from, Palm Beach Day Academy and entered its kindergarten program.
How It Makes a Difference
Opportunity makes a difference in the lives of children and their working families. While in Opportunity’s program, children receive excellent care in an enriching environment, love, attention, referral services as necessary, and the opportunity to reach their potential through high quality early childhood development education. Parents are able to go to work with the peace of mind that their child is not only being cared for in a safe and loving environment but that they are also receiving the benefits of a quality education program.
