Town of Palm Beach United Way celebrates a great year

town-of-palm-beach-united-way-2017-campaignThere are some truly amazing individuals and organizations in our community.  At the Town of Palm Beach United Way, we are proud to collaborate and serve as a partner alongside the people and companies doing great things.

Last week, we held our 72nd Annual Meeting at the Breakers Palm Beach. The event gave us the chance to say “THANK YOU” to the people who have the passion, expertise, and resources to get things done.

If you missed the Annual Meeting here is a Top 10 list of what took place.

  1. Mikhyle Milord (Client of Take Stock in Children) and Kimberly McCarten (CEO of ARC of Palm Beach County) shared incredible agency stories and the impact of Town of Palm Beach United Way funding.
  2. Debra Vasilopoulos, Regional President of Sabadell Bank & Trust, Palm Beach County and our 2017 Campaign Chair, announced that we exceeded our goal, raising $5,669,188.
  3. Jorge Cabrera, Tish Carlo and Betsy Turner, our 2017 Allocation Committee Co-Chairmen presented their grant report which will provide funding to 88 human service program operated by 45 partner nonprofit organizations throughout Palm Beach County.   4. The 2017 recipient of the Nettie Finkle award was Tammy Culmer in recognition of her volunteer role at Take Stock In Children. Culmer exemplifies leadership, generosity and integrity and encompasses bringing hope to the lives of her students and those in the community she touches with her time and devotion.
  5. Outgoing Board members were thanked for six years of service on the Town of Palm Beach United Way board: Larry Beyer, Vicky Hunt, Susan Keenan, Frayda Lindemann, Pamela McIver, Harriet Miller, Bridget Moran, Heidi Niblack, Dan Ponton, Monika Preston, David Scaff, Laurie Silvers, Robbi Toll and Kathy Willis.
  6. New board members were elected: Kathy Bleznak, Paula Butler, Sean Bresnan, Christina Denis, Lynn Foster, Mary Freitas, Juliana Gendelman, Sarah Gerwiz, Darlene Jordan, Matthew Lorentzen, Kristina McPherson, Esther Murray, Gary Pohrer, Jennifer Saville, Ed Schmidt, Cater Randolph, Joyce Reingold, Rebecca Williams and Robert Wright.
  7. Special thanks were given to the Palm Beach Daily News, Palm Beach Fire Rescue, The Breakers Palm Beach, Capehart Photography, Sabadell Bank & Trust, Livingston Builders, Findlay Galleries International, UBS Financial Services, Danielle Moore, Kathryn and Leo Vecellio and Royal Poinciana Chapel.
