International Day of Friendship

by PBUnitedWay

July 30th was the International Day of Friendship. The United Nations is the official sponsor of this holiday, which dates back as far as 1919 in the United States. In 2011, the United Nations declared the Day of Friendship an international holiday.

International Day of Friendship is a day to celebrate and cherish the people in your life, but as an international holiday, it is also a day to work towards fixing broken bonds between international communities. It is important for all people on earth to strive towards strong friendships through communication and mutual trust. The global community faces many challenges like poverty and violence that undermine efforts towards peace and friendship between nations. Friendship can help make the changes necessary for a more sustainable, stable world where we are all working towards the greater good of all people.
