Memorial Day: Ways to honor our servicemen and women

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor all of the men and women who have died while serving in the armed forces. 1.3 million people have lost their lives while serving in the armed services. Despite the somber nature of Memorial Day, it’s also a day when a lot of good can be done. Agency Spotlight: Achievement Centers for Children and Families

Achievement Centers for Children and Families has been a Town of Palm Beach United Way partner agency since 2013.  They provide affordable quality care to children whose parents otherwise could not maintain their job or go to school.  Their programs are designed to meet a child’s academic, social, emotional and physical needs; through toddler, preschool, afterschool, teen, adult and family programs.

LET THE HOMEWORK BEGIN!

In Part One of “Where Does My Donation Go,” we learned that 100 of the most remarkable volunteers have been trained and received all the paperwork needed to make funding decisions for the Town of Palm Beach United Way.

We are happy to report that the initial agency visits have been made, thousands of pages of grant applications, budgets, audits and 990’s have been reviewed by the volunteers.
